Lake near Hudan Bhatori village

Hudan Bhatori village lies at 11,004 feet above sea level.

The village is 8 km away from Killar [headquarter of Pangi tehsil of Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh].

During last week of September, the lake had shrinked.

A pathway led from the village to the lake.

Strange rock formation was found near the lake.

A 'man-made' (?) stone structure was found nearby.

View of mountains was majestic from the lake.

People were going further ahead of the lake.

A variety of vegetation was found near the lake during last week of September.

Bus service is available from Killar to Hudan Bhatori village.

Nako Lake

Nako Village lies at an altitude of 11,800 feet above sea level.

The Village is connected to national highway 22 by a 7 km branch road.

It is located in Kinnaur district of Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

A beautiful lake is located at the Village.

Fish were aplenty during first week of May.

Biodiversity existed on banks of the Lake.

Stones with carvings of Buddhist prayers were found near Lake.

Willow and poplar trees were found around the lake.

A pathway had facilitated circumambulation of the lake.

I visited the Lake for the first time during 2005 and latest during 2014. I found that potato fields [on the banks of the lake] were being replaced by hotels and guest houses.

Trekking around the lake / village is possible; I have scheduled the same during my next visit!

Dhankar Tso (lake)

Dhankhar village [above photograph] lies at 12,763 feet above sea level in Spiti valley in Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.

From Dhankhar village, there is 3 + 3 km trek (return) to Dhankar Tso (lake) (13,500 feet above sea level).

During first week of May, the lake was frozen!

At a few places, the lake reached the base of peaks!

A chorten was found on banks of the lake.

There is no accommodation near the lake. Dhankhar village offers basic accommodation by way of home stay and a guest house. We had read that Dhankhar monastery offered accommodation; however, we did not check out that.

Those, who do not wish to stay at very high altitude, can visit Dhankhar village and monastery on the way from Tabo to Kaza.

However for visiting the lake, night halt at Dhankhar village is recommended.

It lies on Manali – Leh highway.

The lake originates at Baralacha.

The original name of the lake was Suraj Tal.
